The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy is a great series of books featuring a wide array of crazy characters. It may be hard to choose a favourite, but it’s pretty clear that one character is better than the rest.
The cast of the HHGTTG can be divided in 3- the crazy ones (Ford, Zaphod), the normal ones (Arthur, Trillain up to the last book), and Marvin.
Marvin is in a category of his own. His an incredible character- a brain the size of a small planet, with no opportunity to use it anywhere. Now that’s depressing, and as such Marvin is a deeply blue robot (not much of a “paranoid” android though). He has a tendency to pop up at the most unexpected places, and gloomily save everyone but himself, only to face tragically depressing conditions and then pop up again. His dry, British sarcasm is a source of a great deal of humour.
Overall, he’s just the best character, and that’s it.
