Movies made out of books are pathetic! (Discussion)

I hate watching a movie made out of a book. All intricate details are omitted and the final outcome can hardly be called a rendition of the original book. Take for example the Harry potter series; the movies rarely keep up with the book and most of the time the story is out of sync. I don’t understand why the authors allow such a thing to happen, after all the books are children of their imagination.

I agree in general. It’s possible that authors are just doing it for money or some such reason. But I wouldn’t say all movies based on books are bad. Movies like Die Hard, The Graduate, and Stand By Me are great classics and they’re all based on books. I guess it would depend on the individual book, director, actor, and other factors.

The Harry Potter movies were pretty awful, I can’t argue with that. I didn’t like them at all.

I think it depends on the movie, and the book. Harry Potter and Lord of The Rings definitely sucked – how could you try to fit 500-page books into one movie? About A Boy, High Fidelity and Bridget Jones Diary were great movies that were based on books!

After watching Harry Potter 2 I’d decided to never to watch such movies. The whole movie was just black and blue in colour!!!and needless to add pathetic. But I suppose the suppossedly “original” movies largely come out of some book or the other. So, in my view you should watch all movies and let other people know what should be watched and what shouldn’t.
