Here’s a fun game. I’m thinking of a well known character from a certain book. Using only yes/no questions, you have to find out who that character is.
Sounds like fun? Let’s get started!
Wait… let me think… ok, I got somebody. Go!
Teenager?
No (it’s not Holden Caulfield, in case anybody gets any ideas. I don’t like him.)
No, at least not that I know of (there may be a graphic novel adaptation, I don’t know). Otherwise this would be in my Superheroes community. Hey, this gives me an idea…
Does he have a special characteristic, say…physical characteristic that sets him apart?
I’m going to say yes. His physical characteristics set him apart from certain other characters.
Harry Potter?!
Harry Potter?!
Not a teenager… sorry
Can he fly? Would his physical differences be considered disabling? Is his story set in the 20th century? Does he have kids?

He can’t fly.
His physical appearance isn’t disabling in any major way I can think of.
Story isn’t set in the 20th century as far as I know.
No kids.
Good tries though! Should help eliminate a few options.
hmmm….is he in a book Oprah might spotlight? Would his book be considered a classic? A comedy? A tradgedy?
I doubt Oprah would spotlight this book (but I don’t watch Oprah, so I wouldn’t really know).
It is a classic book, yes.
It’s not really a comedy, nor a tragedy. Some people can probably argue that it is a comedy, or it is a tragedy, but I don’t buy into that. Depends on definitions, I guess.
is it your pal Marvin from Hitchhiker’s Guide? or Eeyore?
is it your pal Marvin from Hitchhiker’s Guide? or Eeyore?
Sorry, but no. These would have been way too obvious, and then where’s the fun?
good point. :-) Ok then, is this character an animal that exists presently on the planet Earth?
Not sure if this has been specified, is he an animal?
Is it the Frankenstein monster?
Nope, but a good guess.
ah….er….. how about R. Daneel from Asimov’s canon?
ah….er….. how about R. Daneel from Asimov’s canon?
No, that’s not it.
Keep asking questions though, somebody’s bound to get it sooner or later.
Count Dracula? or wait, how about some Werewolf?
They were part of a book series made by Scholastic. The Animorphs series was really popular, my brother had a book set! The stories went that these teenagers morphed into different animals and different bugs etc. and took on different characteristics. Sort of a weird concept, but the book covers look pretty cool!

He’s not a robot. And I didn’t know WallE was based on a book… is it?
I thought so, I saw a kid reading the book before the movie came out, but after some research, I think the enterprising folks at Disney, packaged up the script as a book and sent it out to the masses.
Is he a Hobbit?
Yes, he’s a Hobit! Great question.
Does this mean I get to think of the next one?
Okay I’ve got one in mind already! I’ll give you some hints to get going:
- recurring character in many books by the author
- nonhuman, but often tries to do human-like things
- The series of books was started in the 1980s and continues on to this day!
